ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਟੁੱਟਣ ਤੁੰ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਾਂ,
ਫਿਰ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਨਾ ਜਾਸੇ।
ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਰੰਜ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਾਂ,
ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀਂ ਮਲ੍ਹਮਾਂ ਲਾਵਾਂ,
ਜਾਂ ਗ਼ਸ਼ ਖਾਦ੍ਹੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਚਿੜੀ ਨੂੰ,
ਮੁੜ ਚੁੱਕ ਆੱਲ੍ਹਣੇ ਧਰ ਆਸਾਂ,
ਫਿਰ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਨਾ ਜਾਸੇ।

If I can stop one Heart from breaking_
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one Life the Aching
Or cool one Pain
Or help one fainting Robin
Unto his Nest again
I shall not live in Vain.
